General Aspects

Place:
La Province of the Carchi is located in the north end of the interAndean alley; between the parallel ones 1 ° 12 ´ 43 " and 0 ° 21 ' 50 " of North Latitude and between the meridians 77 ° 31 ' 36 " and 78 33 ' 12 " of Western Length. The relief of the area is quite irregular and mountainous; the Province spreads between the knots of Grassland towards the north, of Jack, towards the south and partly of the vale of the Chota.
 
Limits:
Limita to the north with the Republic of Colombia; on the South and West with the Province of Imbabura; to the East with the Province of Sucumbíos and on the West with the Province of Esmeraldas.

Extension:
La Province of the Carchi has an extension of 3.604,33 Km ².

Population:
Su population reaches a whole of 152.939 inhabitants that there represent 1.3 % and the entire population of the Ecuador (75.834 men and 77.105 women) 72.152 urban sector and 80.787 sector rural.

Altitude Comes up:
Desde the north in the interAndean alley presents levels altitudinales from 1.200 m.s.n.m. in the zone of the Vale, up to 4.768 m.s.n.m. in the top of the volcano Chiles.
